16th Century Scarce 1500s Antique Medieval Heavy German Wheellock Puffer Pistol

Highly Scarce Mid 1500s Antique 16th Century Very Detailed German Wheellock Puffer

Pistol

I collected this rare German Wheellock Puffer Pistol many years ago while traveling. While traveling through old parts of Germany and visiting many antique dealers and museums, I came across a very old museum castle that was being converted to a tourist B&B. This museum was selling most of their antiques that were never claimed or from those who passed away. This beautiful German wheellock puffer pistol was one of many items I was able to purchase for my personal collection. Now it’s time to find a new home and know this will truly be a great conversation piece including good investment. I do add natural oils to the dark solid detailed hand carved wood and iron barrel, including interior moving parts to keep this historical piece from deteriorating. This German Wheellock Puffer pistol has been kept in a nonsmoking humidity controlled environment. A very rare pistol that does look amazing in any collection. With swamped two-stage barrel engraved with intricate detailed mofit, and dragons for its medieval error throughout including at the breech and muzzle (faint) struck with a barrelamith’s mark (incomplete) together with a small rosette mark, struck twice, ebonized wooden full stock boldly carved in relief over its entire surface comprising broad-leaf foliage in a running pattern over the side and tied sprays over the upper and lower surfaces, an emerging dragon carved on both sides of the lock and about the barrel tang body, and compressed pommel carved en suite and a profile a full lion within a cabled rondel, iron trigger-guard, bar side-plate fitted with a belt hook and later horn fore-end cap and ramrod. This pistol belongs to a distinctive series characterized by their carved blackened stocks. The most closely related examples are in the Musee d’Art et d’ Histoire, Geneva. In comparison, this pistol is the most elaborate I have ever seen. Very fine overall condition (complete) including original wheellock key as shown in these photos. Provenance: Shaffer family Baden Germany Barrel; 15” Total length 24” Terms of Sale: You must be 18 to bid or buy. You agree to pay on time and we agree to ship on time. No local pickups. Please think "YARD SALE" or "FLEA MARKET" not "Wal-Mart" or "MACY'S". If we screwed up, that's different, but I promise you that wont happen.
